Our Story
In 2000, Peer Stritzinger founded the company in Bavaria to solve tough firmware challenges for an automotive client. Over the next decade of embedded consultancy, we built deep expertise and delivered reliable firmware solutions. Our first in-house product was GRiSP, a unified hardware and software system that began life as a bare-metal board booting directly into Erlang. From that single board we grew a full ecosystem of modular hardware, ready-to-run BEAM runtimes, integrated cloud tooling and built-in IoT security to deliver dependable embedded systems in the real world.
In 2013 we demoed GRiSP at the Erlang User Conference; by 2017 the first production boards had shipped. Kickstarter backers helped fund GRiSP 2 in 2019, and in 2024 we launched GRiSP.io, our cloud to edge platform for managing connected systems. Peer Stritzinger GmbH is the company behind the GRiSP ecosystem, combining hardware, software stacks and tools for embedded Erlang and Elixir. Today our team divides its time between new hardware (GRiSP Nano), research and test environments and custom client solutions across transport and automation, many of which feed directly into our evolving GRiSP.io roadmap.
